The history of the New
Glass Company's business goes back to the establishment
of the New Glass Research Center in July 1987. The research
center was established to create new businesses apart
from glass bottles. In December 1990 the New Glass Development
Plant (the present Naruohama Plant) was set up as a
research and manufacturing division. In December 2000
the Amagasaki Plant was established. Since their founding
both plants have strengthened our product line-up.
In this period we have worked with the ambition to challenge
new things. So we have developed original glass compositions
to make the best use of natural glass's characteristics,
improved glass compositions to match market needs, and
developed new glass applications.
In October 2000 we made a fresh start as the New Glass
Company. We believe our mission is to refine the development
and production technologies we have cultivated up to
now and to supply the market with glass materials useful
to the 21st information-communications age.
Take as an example the cell phone. It has spread so
much that there is now one phone per person. Inside
it our micro glass powder is being used in several hundred
very small circuit boards and electronic components.
Another example is Plasma Display Panels (PDPs), which
has aroused great expectations as the multimedia display
of the 21st century. Various parts of a PDP use our
new glass materials, such as for Rib for RGB partitions,
back-side dielectric layer, and Front-side dielectric
layer.
In the future the research area we will focus on is
opto-electronics that uses the special optic characteristics
of glass. We will research themes such as optic communication
components, optic memory, and glass that emits the three
primary colors.
In the quality field, we acquired ISO 9001 certification
in June 2000, and in the environmental field we acquired
ISO 14001 certification in June 2002. We are focusing
on making continuous improvements in these fields daily.
By uniting our development, production, and sales the
New Glass Company will keep on challenging the infinite
possibilities of glass, a wonderful material. |
